Writing Romans 2

Good morning. Romans is a book that sometimes takes me a minute to read then reread to make sure I understood it just right. I am not sure why. Maybe it is the long, long, sentences. But it can be a good thing to reread some things.

As you know I always like to look in the mirror as I am reading/writing scripture. I like to compare it to where I was, where I am, and where I would like to be. In this chapter, I like to look at verses 6-8:

“He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life: but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness there will be wrath and fury.”

My actions should be for the Lord not for myself. That is a hard thing. We are taught from such a young age to make sure we are happy and satisfied. We see it in our tv shows, advertisements, our music, etc. We are taught to self serve. This is so different from what the Lord teaches. This is something I need to work on daily.

Should I be happy? Yes. But everything isn’t about me. It is about the Lord and those around me. His commandments are to love and about love. To love involves the Lord and others. Not just me.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
