Writing Proverbs 5

Good morning… Warning… Warning… Warning… This chapter is titled “Warning Against Adultery” in my Bible. It is sad that we have to have this warning, but I think it is one of our biggest temptations. It is a sly and sneaky temptation.

“For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than any oil,
but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.”

Proverbs 5:3-4

For you ladies who are reading this… this is for us too.. The lips of a forbidden man drip with honey too.

I love how Solomon tells us a way to stay focused.

“Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.”

Proverbs 5:18-19

We have to stay focused on our spouse, remember the intoxication we had in the beginning and let that fill us always. Don’t be looking for that in another place.

Love changes over the years. Love gets better over years. But if we ignore it and look elsewhere we will will find dishonor, and “at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed” verse 11. Let us focus on our spouse…

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
