Writing John 13
Good morning, choosing what to talk about is one of the hardest things I do each day. Sometimes there is so much I want to say and other times I struggle with anything to say. Today, I went from one subject to another as I wrote the chapter but I settled on the new commandment that the Lord gave to His disciples:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
A commandment that on the surface seems easy. The love that the Lord gave to the disciples was not an easy one. He didn’t just give them everything they wanted. He gave them what they needed. He knew they would suffer and that their lives would be hard.
Love is not what we see in the movies and books. There are so many verses in the bible that talk about love. I like to go to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. But the ultimate showing of love was that God sent his Son to suffer and die for us. That Jesus as the Son, chose to suffer and die for us. That is love. It isn’t flowers and hearts. Many times it is tears and pain. It isn’t what we want, it is what we need.
God is so Good. Thank you for saving us.
