Writing Job 1
Good morning. I am so thankful to be starting a new section of the Bible. The books of poetry. And my first book is Job. Job has never been a favorite of mine. Let me see if I will see it differently after I write it.
I do have to say that the first chapter starts out promising. Job was a very rich man and looses many of his possessions and his 10 children in one moment of time.
“Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Job 1:20-21
As a woman who lost her son, I cannot imagine loosing both of my children at once. But it does happen. I remember the one feeling I had was to go to the Lord for comfort. I remember praying as a family on that Sunday morning, I remember getting dressed that sad day and going to the church building and worshiping with the Lord’s family. I can not imagine doing it any other way. I was there surrounded by God and His family singing songs with tears in my eyes as they too had tears in their eyes. Blessed is what I was. The verse that comes to mind as I think of this day is:
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”
Romans 12:15
I was blessed.
But we will see that Job did not have this same blessing of God’s family. But he had God and that was enough for him. Even though he could have counted himself as alone, he did not. I hope that I can look for the same comfort as Job as my life on this earth continues. My comfort is in the Lord.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
