Writing Genesis 38

Good morning..

“About three months later Judah was told, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has been immoral. Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.” And Judah said, “Bring her out, and let her be burned.” As she was being brought out, she sent word to her father-in-law, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please identify whose these are, the signet and the cord and the staff.” Then Judah identified them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not know her again.”

genesis 38:24-26

This is a very interesting story, with ways and beliefs that are not known or understood to our way of living today. How a wife was passed down, or how important an offspring was, is hard for us to understand. But these were very important to them. One may say of utmost importance. Especially the offspring of the firstborn in a family. Especially if it was a boy.

Judah tried to ignore the situation with Tamar and just keep her at a distance, but she found a way. Because she found a way, we see her name in the line of genealogy of Jesus in Matthew.

As I am on this journey to write the Bible, I am enjoying that things are becoming clearer. I am seeing connections and understanding a bit more. I like that I have slowed down. I also like to be able to look at the different names and areas, to see them connect to those that I wrote about in the New Testament last year. Such a blessing..

Try to read a few verses today!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!!
