Writing Galatians 1
Good morning, I am starting a new book today. Another letter from Paul to the churches in Galatia. Paul starts this chapter very strong. A warning that I should take very seriously.
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If Anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
Paul felt the need to repeat this sentence 2 times. Before this he says:
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel– not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.”
The problem was people were coming in and leading them away by changing the gospel of Christ. This is a very serious thing. As I read and learn what is in the Bible, I have to decide who to listen to and follow. I hope it is Jesus. If those around me are teaching anything different I have to be aware and choose to go along with it or not. Are the things I do daily found in the bible or taught by man? Are the things I do to worship God in the bible or taught by man? If they are not found in the Bible then I need to look at them seriously and see where they are coming from. Are the things I teach to others found in the Bible? I need to be careful too. I am human and make mistakes. Please always study for yourself.
Many years ago, I was on a journey to find the Lord. I looked and I was not finding Him in the places that I thought He was. I asked questions that could not be answered. I was young. I finally found Him through reading the New Testament. I try to follow the New Testament, although I am not perfect, He makes me perfect through the washing of His blood.
This chapter reminds me of my journey because I feel I was being led astray, not on purpose, but through traditions of men. It is so important that I make sure I am following the gospel in the Bible. So important that Paul felt the need to mention it 2 times in a row. I want to be in the Church of the New Testament, I want to follow the same God that Jesus followed.
Seek the Lord through the Bible, not of men.
I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
