Writing Exodus 22
Good morning…
“You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people.”
exodus 22:28
As I read this verse, I seen 2 very strong statements. I wanted to look up the word revile and curse in order to get a clearer look at what is said.
revile: (v.) spread negative information about; vilify; vituperate; rail.
curse: (v.) 1. utter obscenities or profanities; cuss; blaspheme; swear; imprecate; 2. heap obscenities upon; 3. wish harm upon; invoke evil upon; beshrew; bedamn; anathemize; anathemise; imprecate; maledict; (opp. of bless) 4. exclude from a church or a religious community; excommunicate; unchurch; (opp. of communicate)
Part 1: You shall not revile God.
Part 2: You shall not curse a ruler of your people.
I think I will just let the Word speak for itself. I do believe I need to remember this verse in my casual speech. 🙂 This is a commandment given to the people of Israel, God’s people. I can use it as a lesson for me too.
Try to read a few verses from the Bible today!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
