Writing Acts 7
Good morning, today’s chapter was a bit longer than yesterday’s chapter. But who could cut this account short. The retelling of the history of the Israelites is worth hearing again and again. Yesterday, I mentioned the verse that said, Stephen had the ‘face of an angel’. I was hoping to understand a bit more what that meant. And in this chapter the word ‘angel’ is brought up a few times. In verses 30 and 35, the angel is talked about that appeared to Moses in the bush, which we are told in verse 32, that God spoke to Moses from the bush. And in verse 38 an angel again is mentioned, the ‘angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai’, and as we know again that God spoke to Moses there too.
As we see in this chapter the similarity of Moses and Jesus, but I also see the similarity of Stephen and Jesus. Jesus was a great teacher and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit we see His disciples following in His footsteps. Showing great boldness, humility, and love for the people. Just like Jesus, Stephen wanted to people to open their eyes and ears and understand what they had done, so that they could make a change. In the last breaths of Stephen’s life, he prayed for those who had killed him. Just as Jesus had.
So, after reading this chapter, the ‘face of an angel’ maybe means Christ-like, God-like, humble, loving, willing to do the Father’s will no matter what, and more. Such an example of Christianity.
God is so Good!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
