Writing 2 Timothy 4
Good morning, the last chapter in 2 Timothy is a sad one for me. I can only imagine Timothy reading these words:
“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”
It would be so hard for me not to pack up everything immediately and head to him. But Paul sends him off to collect a few more things before he can return back to him:
“Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.”
“When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments.”
I am sure Timothy did as Paul requested.
I love the faith Paul had. Through all of the suffering he endured he never lost his focus.
“The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Through all of his physical suffering, his soul was continually saved.
I can not even imagine what these men went through. Hopefully, through their example, I can remain faithful and I do and be brought safely into His heavenly kingdom.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
