Writing Job 41

Good morning.

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?”

Job 41:1-2

God goes through this chapter talking about the Leviathan. A creature that was so grand, I don’t think we could even imagine. And God the father can control it with no trouble and can ‘play with him as with a bird’. The description of this creature is amazing.

“His back is made of rows of shields, shut up closely as with a seal. One is so near to another that no air can come between them. They are joined one to another; they clasp each other and cannot be separated. His sneezing flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the dawn. Out of his mouth go flaming torches; sparks of fire leap forth. Out of his nostrils comes forth smoke, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes. His breath kindles coals, and a flame comes forth from his mouth.”

Job 41:15-21

“He makes the deep boil like a pot; he makes the sea like a pot of ointment.”

Job 41:31

“On earth there is not his like, a creature without fear.

He sees everything that is high; he is king over all the sons of pride.”

Job 41:33-34

As I wrote this chapter, I remember that this is a creature that God made, just like me. This creature was so powerful that everything feared it, but it fears God because it knows the mighty power that God has. Something that sadly, I think I forget sometimes. In this physical world that can see, I tend to forget what is beyond it. That we are made. That there is something bigger. I want to see that something someday. I want to be a sheep in His flock.

I am so thankful that He sent His Son, so that I can see what is beyond this earth someday.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
