Writing Psalm 77

Good morning…

“When the water saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.”

Psalm 77:16

Fear.. we all have fear.. If I think about the waters and what they are afraid of, I cannot think of anything. They contain the largest animals of the world and cover the largest areas of land. We use it to nourish all living creatures and plants. It gives us life and without it we find death.

I cannot imagine the waters to be afraid of anything. Yet, here it is afraid of God.

What am I afraid of? I have to admit I am afraid of the things that I don’t have control of. If I see a spider or snake or bug, I am not afraid. But if the spider is crawling on me and I don’t know what it is, then I am afraid and jump around like a monkey. So, for me I think my fear is about control. I have to smile at this because ‘what do I really control?’. I don’t control much at all. Some of the things that I do are a reaction, and instinct. Some things that I do are responses that I have trained myself to do, but then impulses still come out. Things I didn’t want to do but I still do them. Paul had this problem.

“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.”

Romans 7:15

But one thing I can control is my belief in God. I can remember that He sent His Son on this earth, so that I can be forgiven for the things that I do. I can remember that I don’t have to be fearful of the things on this earth. I can remember that I don’t have to be fearful even of death, because after death on this earth I will have an eternal life with God in heaven. Oh what I day that will be.

God is so Good!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
