Writing Psalm 57
Good morning. As I read through the headings of the Psalms, I am reminded of the times when they were written:
“To the Choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam of David, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.”
Psalm 57 Heading
This Psalm was written as David was running from Saul. This was when Saul just happened to go into the cave that David was already hiding in. David reached out and cut part of Saul’s garment. But David did not harm Saul. David trusted in the Lord to take care of him.
Would I do the same? Would I try to take advantage of the situation if my enemy was right in front of me and did not know it? Sadly, I don’t want to know the answer. I would hope that my faith would be strong enough to know what God would want me to do.
“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!”
Psalm 57:11
He is first! This physical world is of little importance, but that is so hard for us to understand because we live in it. We can touch and feel it easily. I have to work at touching the Lord. I have to seek Him out. But he is here. I can be just as excited as David was..
“I will sing and make melody! Awake, O harp and lyre!
Psalm 57:7-10
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the people;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.”
God is so Good!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
