Writing Acts 2
Good morning, to begin with I want to say that ‘Relaxing Classical’ channel on Alexa music, is not the channel to listen to while doing my writing. Some of the tunes were competing for my attention. I even found a few of the songs to be uplifting and made me want to hurry up on my writing. I will have to find another channel next time. Those who know me, may know that I really enjoy music and find it hard to hold still while singing or listening to it.
Onto the real reason I am here. Acts 2. The Holy Spirit is here in full force. So many were there to see and hear, and so many finally listened and believed. I refer back to verse 37:
“Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
When do I feel like I am ‘cut to the heart’? Another version says, ‘pricked to the heart’. When do I feel deeply about something? So many things can cause me to feel deeply and to act on them. Most of the things I get ‘cut to the heart’ about aren’t even important. But who Jesus is and what he did is the most important thing to all of us. We should be ‘cut to the heart’. These people were so ‘cut to the heart’ that they wanted to know what to do to fix it. Of course Peter told them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. So were they ‘cut to the heart’ so much that they did something? In verse 41, “So those who received his word were baptized, and were added that day about three thousand souls.”
What subject pricks your heart? Stirs you with emotions that you feel like you have to do something. Hobbies, politics, injustice, the list could go on. How about Jesus? He came here and died for us. God the Father sent His Son here to die for us. He suffered and died for our sins. This is what should prick my heart the most so that I am stirred to do His will.
God is so Good!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!
