Writing 1 Samuel 23
Good evening….
“Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. And afterward David’s heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord’s anointed.”
1 samuel 24:4-6
Can you imagine, running from your enemy, then finding that he walked into the cave with which you were already in? Many would have taken the enemy hostage or killed him. But not David. He felt terrible for cutting a corner off Saul’s robe. Why? Because Saul’s was anointed by God and David was devoted to God.
I should have more love for people. Afterall, God created all of us from His image. Afterall, He sent His Son to die for us all. I need just a little bit of the tenderness David had.
