Finished the New Testament

Good morning. As many of you know, yesterday I finished writing the New Testament. It took 260 chapters, 24 pens, 2 large notebooks, and lots of coffee. The reality I discovered last December was that there are approximately 260 week days out of the year, and 260 chapters in the New Testament. So I though I could do this only during the week days and make it work. Once I got started I realized how possible it really was as I finished the first book. I did have to add Saturdays to make up for the days I missed because of vacation or sickness.

There were days that I wasn’t able to to get to it or when I had to rearrange my schedule. On those days, I really missed it and couldn’t wait to get back to it. I also looked forward to it as a way to get focused for the day. What better way than to be focused on God’s word first thing in the morning?

As each chapter went, I felt more confident, I remembered more from the words I was writing, and I seen connections from previous books and verses. They began to connect to each other and make more sense. An example, I seen words in Revelation that reminded me of things that were talked about in Matthew, like the wedding feast. I have always struggled with my reading retention. I can read something and 30 seconds later I would not be able to tell you what I read. I can’t believe that I am finally remembering and linking verses together that I read months before.

I cannot tell you how many times that I have read some of the books in the bible over the years. But I can tell you that writing it has made a huge difference in remembering what I read and seeing so much that I don’t remember seeing before. I felt more of a connection to the writers of each book, to God the Father, and to Jesus who suffered on this earth for us.

If you already spend time in God’s word each day, it would not take much to transition to writing it. But if you are new to setting that time aside, it may take you a bit to commit to a special time each day. But I want you to know how possible it is. I graduated high school with a 3rd grade reading level. I don’t like to read much at all. Most regular story books take me months and months to read. I choose the time that I am relaxed and awake so that I don’t want to dose off. It does take practice…. It does take time…. It does take patience….. But the blessings of finally understanding what God is telling me, instead of relying on someone else to tell me, is wonderful.

So, please consider writing God’s word for yourself. Don’t worry about your handwriting or your messing up. You don’t have to even show it to anyone else in this world. Do it for you!! Do it to be closer to God!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
