Writing John 16
Good Monday morning. I hope everyone had a good weekend and if you didn’t, you can start again, refreshed in the Word of God.
In the chapter today, I flipped flopped on what to bring out. I feel like the Lord is trying to squeeze in as much information to the disciples as He can in His last hours with them. Some of it was clear, and some was not.
In the beginning of the chapter He says something pretty scary:
“Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.”
I could not imagine the thoughts that were going through their minds. Could you imagine the faith it would take to just continue to sit and listen to Him at this point? That would definitely test my faith.
But then I love how the chapter ends:
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heat; I have overcome the world.”
Such wonderful words. As Christians we have peace in Jesus. This world may be so hard at times, but He has overcome it, and in Jesus we have peace.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
