Writing John 12
Good morning. As the crowds continue to follow Jesus, many of whom seen Him raise Lazarus from the tomb, they were looking for more signs. More signs so that they might believe he was the Christ. No matter what, they didn’t seem satisfied, always looking for another sign. This was prophesied in Isaiah,
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn and I would heal them.”
Yet is verse 42 it says,
“Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue: for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.”
So, some of the people did believe Him and knew who He was but their fear and love for the world kept them from following the Lord. This is scary for me.
My prayer: Lord, open my eyes, open my heart, heal me. Help me to love you more than this world so that I am not afraid to follow you.
