Writing Genesis 13

Good morning…

Last week I talked about the choices that Lot made. I can learn another lesson from the choice he made in chapter 13.

“And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other. Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.”

Genesis 13:10-13

Abram left the decision to Lot on which lands they would settle in. A choice that had big consequences. Of course Lot looks at the lands and sees the beauty and lush green grasses and makes his decision. How deceiving the lands looked. Although it looked beautiful from the distance, it was not beautiful on the inside. On the inside it was sinful and wicked.

How often do I make decisions based on what something looks like from the outside? Like Lot I have to deal with the consequences of my choice. Hopefully, I can look at the big picture when making my decisions and think them out with God in mind. Otherwise I need to be ready to deal with the results of my decisions.

Try to read a few verses today!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!!
