Writing James 2
Good morning. Oh James, you are stepping on my toes. As I read this chapter I can’t help but feel like this letter is written to me. As a Christian, I have to continually evaluate myself. I want to be like Christ right? The chapter starts out saying, “show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.” It is so hard in this material world for me to not show partiality. I admit there are some people I am more comfortable with than others. Is this showing partiality? Maybe the point is to not make distinction of others because of their appearance or state of life. Don’t treat them different, we are all children of God, we are all equal in His eyes. So why would we not show them love, He showed me love and mercy.
I think this next section goes right along with the first, my bible calls it, ‘Faith without works is dead’. Just as I am to ‘love my neighbor’, as stated in verse 8, I should respond with action/works. If another person is in need whether physical or spiritual, and I am aware of it, I should react and help them. Boy this is hard sometimes. I am not a very emotional person, and prefer not to be at times. So it is a struggle sometimes to ‘show my faith by my works’.
These verses tell me, that I need to get out of my unemotional comfort zone, and Love people. Wow!
I am so thankful for the Word of God!!
I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
