Writing 2 Corinthians 1
Good morning, the beginning of another book. 🙂
As Paul begins this book, I can feel his pain and his comfort as he talks about some of the suffering they endured and will endure. One strong statement that he makes is in verse 9:
“But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.”
All that we go through on this earth are physical and temporary. It can help us to depend on the spiritual to get us through difficult times. In Paul’s instance, he thought he would die in Asia. But he and his friends were delivered from death. In all this suffering Paul finds comfort:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, whit the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
I do not suffer the same affliction as these men did. But what little I do suffer I will be comforted. I need to remember that. I will be comforted ‘by God’!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
