Writing Romans 13

Good morning, another little chapter, only 14 verses long. But like the last chapter it has some good lessons.

One lesson: listen to governing authorities. It says in this chapter that the Lord has appointed those in governing authorities and even goes as far as saying, they are servants of God. I need to be in subjection or I am going against God.

Does that mean all those in authority are ‘good’? Does that mean no one will suffer under them? No. Even Jesus fell under authority and was wrongly accused. He did not fight against it. He lived here peaceable and even paid His taxes.

This is a subject many can get worked up over. But the verses are clear, I am to follow the laws. I do have an option to get involved in order to try to change the laws and the governing authorities. We can use the previous chapter and the following verses in this chapter to help guide me to do things in a Christian way.

That brings me to lesson 2: Love is fulfilling the law. Paul points out that love is the ultimate fulfillment of the law. He shows how the commandments were summed up in love.

All that Christ did was through love. All that the Father did was through love. All that we do should be through love. That is hard. Something I know I have to work on.

God is so Good!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
