Writing John 18
Good morning, the capture and trial begins. I cannot help but feel for Peter. As they come for Jesus, his emotions get the best of him and he draws his sword to defend Jesus. As most of the disciples scatter, only two are mentioned that follow and Peter is one of them. He is confused and tired. He denies the Lord, three times, then the rooster crows. In Luke we are told that the Lord looks at him at this point and Peter goes away crying. This must have been such an emotional time for him.
My question for myself: Where will I be when my Lord is on trial? Will I scatter? Will I trail along but be afraid of the crowds? Will I stand strong?
Later on through Scripture, we see that Peter does stand strong after this. It gives me strength to know that if I waver for a second but I can still turn and stand up stronger. Many of the disciples that did scatter returned with zeal to spread the Gospel to so many.
I thank the Lord for the many second chances that I have had!!
God is so Good!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
