Writing Luke 20
Good morning, as I finished off this chapter and began to review it, I thought more about the last few verses. My bible calls it, ‘Beware of the Scribes’. It is where Jesus warns the people and the disciples to beware of the scribes. He talks about their clothing, and how they put themselves in high places to draw attention to themselves and appear important. He also talks about how they mistreat those who cannot defend themselves (widows).
I like to put this in my life and think of the warning He would be giving me. I need to beware of those who may dress fancy, making themselves important, attracting attention, and only looking out for themselves. It is so easy to be caught up with those around us and to not realize we are being drawn up into their shadows.
I need to be drawn up in Jesus’ light, not anyone one’s shadow. Even the disciples who walked with Christ needed this warning.
