Squirrels in the attic part 4

Good morning, I sure am hoping this early morning rain hasn’t spoiled anyone’s plans. I keep forgetting to post an update on the squirrels in the attic.

For a reminder, we have been having a problem with some squirrels. At least 2, scratching and running through our attic. During the day and during the night, right over our bed at night. During the day it would freak Rufus (our dog) out when he would hear them. Poor Rufus.

We thought they were getting on the house using the bushes. So we cut them down and it didn’t even slow them down. Then I witnessed one jumping from a tree onto our house. We put a camera in the attic to try to see exactly where they were getting in but the camera didn’t pick up anything. We had it on the roof and still didn’t get enough information. Finally, as I was letting Rufus out back, a squirrel looked right down at me from the roof and I was able to see where he was getting in. No camera needed. Just a helpful, bold squirrel to show me the way.

Then the ladder came, it had to be a big ladder. Gerald put the camera in a better place this time, right at the entrance where they were getting in. He also put an alarm on it. So, when the camera is triggered, the squirrels get to hear Gerald yelling at them, “Hey squirrel, get out of the attic”. It worked…… Of course we waited another 2 weeks to be sure there were no squirrels inside the attic before he sealed it with spray foam until we can get it fixed. We have found a few random pieces of foam around the house, so this isn’t permanent but for now they are out of the attic. I am so glad. All I could think of was squirrels all summer running through the attic.

Hopefully, this will be the final post about the squirrels…

Have a great day,

Jenn
