Helping my Helpmate!! (giggle)
Hello everyone, just a quick note to those who just need a little giggle.
As a helpmate to my husband sometimes I like to help my mate. At times, this is displayed by doing things that one might think I should leave to my more experienced hubby. One might even say I do these things because of impatience or control, but I assure you, I only do things like this to help my husband have more time to do other things he likes to do. (sarcasm)
I had a great idea on Friday, to help my husband by unclogging ‘his’ bathroom sink. This is also the sink that guest use when they come. This is an easy fix, just get down there unscrew the trap, get the stuff out, rescrew the trap and tada!! an unclogged drain. Hubby will be soooooooo happy that I didn’t trouble him with such an easy task.
So I get my bucket/bowl ready to catch the mess and unscrew the first side. I am so pleased with how well I am helping my mate. As I begin to unscrew the other side….. oops…. the entire metal pipe just crumbles… You read that right, CRUMBLES!! I sat there for probably a entire minute in shock, just staring at it. I can’t believe it. I have never seen anything like it before in my life of cleaning out the approximately 5 traps in my whole life.
After the initial shock wears off a bit, I realize I have to call my wonderful hubby, who I know is working hard on his day off. He answers the phone, I start out with how much I love him and that I was only trying to help. He laughs at me, jokingly tells me I shouldn’t be messing with his bathroom. Then I have to explain to him that this is bad… It is the metal pipe that going into the wall that crumbled, not the trap that broke. I can hear his saddness at this point.
Poor guy decides to come see what kind of damage I did. He looks at it. Yup, it was bad, then got worse as the repair went on through the weekend. He had to dig the crumbled pipe piece by piece, cut out the wall, snake out the pipe up stairs and down in the the basement, replace the water valve parts because now they are leaking since we touched them, ripped the cabinet from the wall because it was literally glued to the wall and caulked. My little cleaning out the trap turned into such a huge mess.
But in the end, he still loves me. I am so thankful for that. So you ladies, whenever you want to be such a wonderful helpmate to your hubby, (not an impatient wife), realize that sometimes we end up making a mess for them to clean up. This isn’t the first one I made and sadly it won’t be the last.
Have a great week.

Hey!!! I like you…lets go steady!
