Writing 1 Kings 10

Good evening…

“For the king had a fleet of ships of Tarshish at sea with the fleet of Hiram. Once every three years the fleet of ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.”

1 kings 10:22

Every now and then as I am going through the Bible I get caught by surprise. As I know that I have read the Bible before, multiple times, I guess I never focused on this verse enough to remember that apes and peacocks were collected and brought along with gold, silver, and ivory. Why apes and peacocks? I can see peacocks, maybe they used their feathers for something or they liked to look at how pretty they can be. But apes?? I did a quick search and couldn’t pull up anything. Maybe I didn’t ask the internet the right question. Maybe they were monkeys and kept as pets. I will have to keep looking and see if I can find anything out as to why Solomon had them bringing back apes. If anyone else knows the answer to this question please let me know.

Try to read a few verses from the Bible today!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
