Writing 1 Samuel 11

Good morning…

“Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Jabesh-gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, “Make a treaty with us, and we will serve you.” But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “On this condition I will make a treaty with you, that I gouge out all your right eyes, and this bring disgrace to all Israel.” The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven days’ respite that we may send messengers through all the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to save us, we will give ourselves up to you.” When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, they reported the matter in the ears of the people, and all the people wept aloud.”

1 samuel 11:1-4

A negotiation of war between two groups of people can be harsh and sad. Can you imagine the feelings that the Israelites had as they seen their future with only one eye and to be servants of the Ammonites? I see at the end of this fight many lives were taken. Many families left changed. War and fighting is a hard reality of life on this earth. It gives me even more reason to look at the life beyond this world. This world is temporary, heaven is eternal. Let us all look toward a spiritual life of love and peace. Let us find a bond in Jesus.

Try to read a few verses from the Bible today!!
