Writing Deuteronomy 13
Good morning…
“But you shall kill him. Your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. You shall stone him to death with stones, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. And all Israel shall hear and fear and never again do any such wickedness as this among you.”
Deuteronomy 13:9-11
I think about the Jews of the New Testament, I imagine they were defending their faith. They were given this commandment as they were going into the promise land. This was to protect them, so that they would not worship any other gods. Then Jesus comes along. He tries to explain that He came to fulfill the prophesy, but they could not see that. All they could see was that He was teaching something different. I imagine many Jews did things with a clean conscious, they thought they were doing as God commanded.
It is easy for me to get confused sometimes. I might think I am doing the right thing but it may be wrong. Thankfully, God knows my heart that drives my actions. Thankfully, there is Jesus, our Savior.
Try to read a few verses from the Bible today!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
