Writing Ecclesiastes 10

Good morning..

I had to giggle when I read the first verse in this chapter.

“Dead flies make the perfumer’s ointment give off a stench; so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.”

ecclesiastes 10:1

Yesterday, I left the basement door open for my dog, Rufus. It was open for about 15-30 minutes. I didn’t notice anything at the time, but shortly after I heard a fly, then another fly. So, I got up to get my fly swatter only to find that I had been invaded. Thankfully, I noticed that they were gathering in the windows, mostly the bathroom window. I tried opening the window with no luck, they refused to go out. So, I spent an hour killing flies. I know it was over 50 flies. I thought I was done, but then they were still coming. The second round was a couple of hours later and I counted 79 flies. So, I imagine there were about 200 flies. It was crazy, I guess I opened the door, at the perfect time, for a swarm to come in.

I found my house to be miserable during this infestation. I am thankful it only lasted one afternoon.

A little folly outweighs wisdom and honor… I can do everything right through my day, but then when I do one thing wrong, it can change how I feel about the entire day. I cannot see what I did right, because the focus has been brought to the silly mistake that I made. I can also compare this to a crowd of people, or even a pack of dogs. No one can see the good ones through the one who is making the most noise, grumbling and complaining, or the one who is acting crazy. I think it is just human nature. I guess I need to keep the dead flies out and learn to ignore them. Unless they are in my house…….. :))

Try to read some verses today from your Bible!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
