Writing Revelation 18

Good morning.

Repeating words tend to get my attention as I write or read. In today’s chapter I found more ‘repeating words’.

Verse 10: "They will stand far off, in fear of her torment"
Verse 15: "will stand far off, in fear of her torment"
Verse 17: "stood far off"

As the great city Babylon fell, burned, suffered, was destroyed, those who knew her stood back and watched her. Some were afraid, they cried, and mourned because they would no longer reap the benefits of this great city. Their supply of gold, silver, costly wood, etc. were now gone. But others did not mourn because this great city was a sinful city and many prophets and saints suffered and even died in her hand.

If I were standing far off, which would I feel? Would I be sad because of all of the material things that I would no longer have access to? Would I forget all of the suffering that was caused to God’s people? Would I forget that God is in control? I can’t help but be a bit sad to know my first reaction to cling on to this world and the ‘benefits’ I get from it. I want to hope that my love for God would win in the end.

I am so thankful for the Son of God, who came to this earth and knows the struggles of living on this earth. He can relate to my human feelings and weakness. Yet He was strong and lived a sinless life, suffered, died, and rose again, so that I can be forgiven of my weaknesses.

God is so Good!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
