Writing 1 John 2

Good morning. There is so much in this chapter that I could get carried away and write more than you want to read. I suggest, if you have a few minutes, take the time to read this chapter. That way you can get the rest of the things that John has to share with you.

I like to keep these verses close to my heart, but I struggle:

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world–the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life–is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17

It is so hard not to fall in love with many of the things this world provides for us. It is also not hard to be broken by the things this world provides for us. That is why it is so important for me not to depend on them, because they will all be gone one day. Whether they will go away during my lifetime or not, I do not know. But they will be gone.

Is there something that won’t pass away?

If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us–eternal life.

1 John 2:24-25

Those of us who abide in the Son and in the Father will have eternal life. We will not pass away. What a wonderful thing to know.

I also love the words in verse 28:

And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.

1 John 2:28

I think about Adam, who hid in the garden when the Lord came looking for him. He shrunk out of shame. I pray I don’t shrink out of shame. May I know that I am His Child and that I am cleansed by His blood.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
