Writing James 4
Good morning. As I read and write another chapter of James, I think about how harsh James appears to be. But then I realize sometimes I need harshness. How many times do I make the same mistake over and over and over again without fixing it? Without even knowing I made the mistake. Sometimes I need to be shaken a bit to see what I am doing.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
James 4:7-10
I also notice that as James gives us many don’ts, he also gives us some do’s. ‘Draw near to God’, ‘resist the devil’, etc. He gives me ways to get past the current state I am in. I like how my focus can be shifted from worldly pleasures to a peaceful Spiritual life. Yes, there is tears, but then there is light.
I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
