Writing James 3
Good morning. A cool morning yet the words from my bible come with such heat today.
“For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our lord and Father and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing.’
James 3:7-10
The mighty tongue, this beast has overtaken me so many times. Sadly, I know it will over take me again and again. The truth is, the tongue is not an independent member of my body, it’s poison comes from my innermost self, my heart. It is the one part as a Christian I would like to control but sometimes it gets away from me.
I love how this chapter goes right into ‘wisdom from above’, because that is the only way our tongue can be steered into the right direction.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
james 3:17-18
Wouldn’t it be beautiful to give control of my tongue to the wisdom from above instead.
I am so thankful for the mercy and grace of our Lord, for without Him and God the Father, I would never have a way to heaven. As I read each chapter, my hope is that it will become apart of me so that peace will come out of my mouth instead of fire.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!
