Writing 2 Thessalonians 3
Good morning, another little book finished. They are much easier to finish when they are only 3 chapters. Even though it was only 3 chapters it had just what the Thessalonians needed to hear at the time. Even now when I read the bible sometimes I feel like, “that was just what I needed to hear”. It is funny how even now God works through His Word to guide us and teach us.
In this last chapter Paul warns about being idle, not doing what they should be doing.
“If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.”
For most of my adult life, I have been a homemaker, raising our children. I have worked some outside of the home but not much. As a person who made my own schedule each day, it is important to keep busy and not get distracted from taking breaks, watching tv, talking on the phone, etc. There were many times I would get distracted and behind on things but I eventually had to get caught back up. Some of those things took years. When I allowed myself to get distracted, it could always be seen. It was hard to keep up and organize 4 different lives plus the animals and stuff. With all of those things going on, sometimes it was a struggle to keep up with our spiritual lives and that God was most important. .There were many times I failed, but I could always get up the next day and start back over again.
Now that it is just hubby and I, I still have to struggle with staying focused and not to get distracted with idleness. My time is definitely more relaxed with only the 2 of us, but it is still important to remember that I am a child of God and that I can share that with others. Sometimes I share it with my actions and sometimes I share it with my words, but it is just important to share it.
God is so Good!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today!!
